While visiting Norway in spring of 2007 to help co-organize a visual effects symposium, "Digital Fiction: Innovative Filmmaking", xRez Studio took the opportunity to shoot select locations in gigapixel resolution. xRez concurrently ran a visual effects workshop for local artists, based on photogrammetry of the wonderful Oslo City Hall building. A video interview from the local press can be found here. Gaining permission to shoot from the roof of the building, gigapixel shots were made looking into the city core as well as into the adjacent harbor. Later, a trip was made to the famed Prekestolen, or "Pulpit", an iconic 1800' sheer wall overlooking the Lysefjorden. Several views were shot, from a near overlook, to a far overlook, to a view taken from a 16' pole mount near the edge. A Hasselblad 39MP H3D was employed to shoot a 9 gigapixel sphere, one of xRez Studio's largest images to date.

Earlier in the spring of 2006, Eric Hanson joined a team of climbers to ascend Molden, a high peak in the Sognefjord area of western Norway. Normally a mild Class II route, heavy snow nesessitated doing the entire route on snowshoes. Heavy winds and blowing snow on the summit limited shooting an entire sphere, but a partial high resolution panorama was shot.
